© SA Tourism© SA TourismThere are vast areas of limestone and dolomite, which have resulted in some spectacular caves, many of which are open to visitors, as well as a number of interesting sinkholes, including the second deepest in the world. The most popular tourist caves are the Cango Caves in Oudtshoorn, the Sudwala Caves in Mpumalanga, and Arnhem Cave, just over an hour's drive from Windhoek in Namibia. The caves in Chimanimani, on the Zimbabwean and Mozambican border are believed to be the deepest granite caves in the world. There is a small but active caving community in southern Africa.
