Diving in Durban

©Fiona McIntoshBecause Durban is a major commercial port, the diving is not quite as rewarding as it is off the nearby North and South Coasts, both of which are easily reachable on a day trip from the city. But there are a couple of good dives in the bay, and local divers often do a shore dive at the shallow and protected Vetchie's Pier. A great option, of course, is to dive in the predator tank of uShaka Marine World - a state-of-the-art aquarium right on the beach.
